1928 Standard


Frame

Numbered 24376 to 30939 (approx). Bolt on seat stays with drawback type chainstays for rear wheel adjustment.

Wheels

WM2 x 19 (f), WM2 x 19 (r) (26 x 3.25") interchangeable with black enamelled rims. Black spokes with NPB nipples. Rear with separate rear sprocket carrier assembly (dogged drive to wheel hub).

Mudguards

5" D section, unvalenced front and rear. Rear with detachable tail section

Tanks

Petrol tank black with gold lined panels fitted between frame rails (flat tank). Single 2" external screw type filler. Brass lever petrol tap. Oil tank mounted on rear frame downtube across frame with filler to offside.

Engine

Numbered 46000 to 52000 (approx) - 4 valve 499cc with cast iron open valve cylinder head, parallel inlet valves and parallel exhaust. Forward facing parallel exhaust ports. 18mm side plug. Rockers supported on plates bolted to the cylinder head. Forward mounted ML Maglita or round ML magneto. Square based cylinder barrel and plain drive side crankcase. Total loss oiling with vertical ‘pump’ in timing cover.

Brakes

Dummy belt rim front and rear, coupled to RH pedal.

Electrics (optional)

Miller 6” 64E headlamp with rear switch and 34E rear lamp.

Transmission

4 speed gearbox with hand change on RHS of tank. Gearbox with external kickstarter stop. Steel primary chain cover and ‘angle iron’ type rear chainguard.

Carburetter

Amac type 15MDY with Amac 2 lever control

Exhaust System

Twin nickel plated short downpipes into horizontal expansion chamber mounted in front of the crankcase. Single tailpipe to rear wheel ending in detachable fishtail.

Standard Fittings

Rear carrier (at no extra charge), 7/8” non adjustable handlebars with folded type inverted levers. Rear stand. Leather fronted toolbox mounted on rear carrier on nearside of machine. Steering damper operated by wing nut through the steering head. Battery carrier (where fitted) on offside of machine to the rear of the gearbox. Leather topped pan type saddle. Closed ended ‘D’ section forks.

Extras

Rear brake lock for use when a sidecar is fitted. Footboards.
