Numbered 2951 to 9441 (approx). Bolt on seat stays with drawback type chainstays for rear wheel adjustment.


650 x 65mm beaded edge. interchangeable with black enamelled rims. 2 security bolts. Black spokes with NPB nipples. Rear with separate rear sprocket carrier assembly. (dogged drive).


5” D section, unvalanced, front and rear.


Petrol tank with double gold lined panels fitted between frame rails (flat tank). Single 2" external screw type filler. Brass lever petrol tap. Oil tank mounted on rear frame down tube across the frame with spring loaded filler to offside.


Numbered 1800 to 5750 (approx) - 4 valve 346cc with cast iron open valve cylinder head, parallel inlet valves and parallel exhaust. Forward facing parallel exhaust ports with STUBS to exhaust.18mm side plug. Rockers supported on cast support with clamps to rocker spindles. Sloping pushrods. Forward mounted ML Maglita or round ML magneto. Square scalloped based cylinder barrel and plain drive side crankcase. Total loss oiling with Best & Lloyd pump mounted on timing cover.


Dummy belt rim front and rear, coupled to RH pedal.

Electrics (standard)

4V ML lighting available. Headlamp mounted on spoke wire supports. Lighting control mounted on top frame rail. 6V lighting set provided for export models.


Early models used the underslung 4 speed gearbox as in 1924. later models the foot mounted 4 speed gearbox with hand change on RHS of tank (open gate). Gearbox with external kickstarter stop and double helical gears. Aluminium (pinted black) primary chain cover and aluminium rear chainguard.

Exhaust system

Twin 1 1/2” nickel plated short down pipes into horizontal steel expansion chamber mounted in front of the crankcase. Tail pipe to rear wheel.

Standard Fittings

Rear carrier. Non adjustable 7/8" handlebars type 110 with folded type inverted levers. Rear stand. Front stand. Leather fronted toolbox mounted on rear carrier on nearside of machine. ML battery carrier (where fitted) mounted on offside of rear carrier. Leather topped pan type pillar mounted saddle. Closed ended ‘D’ section forks. 17" tyre pump.
